How to refer patients, what information is required, and how care is coordinated from initial referral to follow-up.

Treatment planning may include shared clinical input across the team, particularly for complex cases, to support appropriate option selection, sequencing, and predictability based on documented standards.

Submit the referral with relevant clinical information and imaging, where available.

Frequently asked questions
for referring doctors

What is your specific clinical scope, and which cases should be referred elsewhere?

Toothsome handles complex periodontics, implants, oral surgery (wisdom teeth, bone grafting), and advanced restorative work. They also accommodate patients requiring general anaesthesia.

However, highly complex maxillofacial surgery or cases requiring multidisciplinary medical hospital management should be directed elsewhere.

Urgent cases (infection, trauma, significant swelling) are prioritized. The fastest way to coordinate this is via a direct phone call to the clinic so the clinical team can escalate the scheduling immediately.

Yes. Toothsome operates on a shared-care model. Once the specific specialist phase is over, the patient is discharged back to the referring doctor for routine maintenance and ongoing general dental care.

Updates are provided at key milestones: after the initial consultation, after the procedure, and upon discharge. These typically arrive as written reports via email and include relevant imaging (OPGs, CBCTs) and histopathology if applicable.

While recent OPGs or periapical X-rays are helpful to include with the referral, Toothsome offers on-site imaging (including CBCT and OPG). For dental implants specifically, Toothsome usually takes their own CBCT scans to ensure the data is current for precise guide fabrication.
